Safety Centre Welcomes Refugee and Newly Arrived Communities 

There was plenty of excitement to be had last week as families from refugee and newly arrived communities visited our interactive education centre, Hazard Alley.

The families were welcomed by the friendly faces of our incredible volunteers. They, with the help of some handy translations, provided a ‘Hazard Alley’ experience suitable for all.

The translated signs focussed on the key safety messages we cover in each scenario, such as the dangers of open water and how to cross the road safely. Families were able to experience our realistic scenarios and gain essential safety knowledge, which will help them as they continue to settle into new communities.

At the Safety Centre, we know the value of safety education. It instils confidence and empowers people to think about making safer choices, enabling safer communities to flourish. That is what makes our work so important and why we continue to strive to reach more people.
