Tragic Death Highlights Need For Railway Safety Education
The tragic death of 16-year-old Jake Norman who recently died on the railway in Portsmouth highlights the need for the Safety Centre’s lifesaving railway safety education. Whilst the British Transport Police are still working to establish the circumstances of Jake’s death and why he was accessing the railway line, Jake’s family have said they would like to raise awareness of the dangers of the railway tracks through the tragic incident.
The Safety Centre is the world’s first safety education charity, teaching lifesaving learning to children, young people and adults to create safe, flourishing communities. The charity focuses on early intervention and prevention safety education, teaching the skills needed to be safe in daily life.
Maya Joseph-Hussain Chief Executive at the Safety Centre said,
‘We were saddened to hear of the tragic death of Jake Norman and our thoughts are with his family, friends and community at this difficult time. Jake’s death emphasises the importance of our railway safety education work here at the Safety Centre.
